Process Maintenance Engineer
Jennifer Griffiths Recruitment are seeking to employ a Process Maintenance Engineer for our fast-growing and international client in the Port Talbot area. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a Process Maintenance Engineer role and will be a key member of the site, where the PME reports to the Department Manager but will also be working closely with the management team.
The Main Purpose of the Role
- The Process Maintenance Engineer supports the Factory at ensuring that all preventive, predictive and reactive maintenance is carried out per instructions provided through Preventative maintenance schedules and eventually IFS Service and Maintenance.
- The Process Maintenance Engineer will endeavour to carry out preventive and reactive maintenance and that they are done ‘Right First Time’.
- All work done and any problems are reported back through the preventative maintenance record and eventually the IFS Service and Maintenance, communicating what was done, the duration of the work, and what spare parts were used to carry out the maintenance.
- The Process Maintenance Engineer carries out all maintenance using the best practices to ensure reliable servicing and repairs whereby the processes can run on time ensuring downtime of any processes are kept to a minimum.
- At certain times the Process Maintenance Engineer will support capital projects and may be asked to learn new processes to gain specialist knowledge of the process.
- To carry out reliability centred maintenance and rebuild equipment using high technology tools and techniques that ensure reliable performance of that equipment.
- To develop the maintenance knowledge of the production staff to enable speedy return of equipment operation when Process Maintenance Engineer is off site or unavailable.
Principal Site Accountabilities
- To always work safely, utilising the relevant Permit to Work and Hazard Awareness Forms complete with lock off systems in place.
- To create preventative and predictive maintenance plan for the site on IFS.
- To carry out reactive maintenance either by breakdown of process or requested by the production team including out of hours on-call for a department.
- To enter all relevant data into IFS Service and Maintenance providing accurate information of work done, time on the job, and parts used.
- Implementation and management of critical spares on IFS.
- To carry out all works ‘Right First Time’
- Upkeep of all site records and systems relating to plant and process maintenance activities on IFS.
- Management of statutory inspections and annual service requirements.
- Management of the engineering stores and implementation of 5S in this area.
- To work safely and report all H&S incidences as and when they occur.
- To create and use an engineering library to gain and share knowledge of equipment/processes to be managed through IFS on EON module.
- To carry out all works on site either in the workshops or on the shop floor working to the ‘Clean-as-you-go’ policy.
Principal Responsibilities
Maintenance Engineering
- To undertake preventive and reactive maintenance on all site processes as per planned maintenance schedule on IFS EON System
- To implement a schedule for predictive maintenance and perform on time in accordance with the schedule.
- To attend and repair any breakdown on the process/plant. To endeavour to carry out the repair right first time with a methodical approach to fault finding.
- To readdress temporary repairs with a permanent solution.
- To use correct tools to carry out maintenance tasks. Any tools which are defective to be repaired/replaced.
- To create and maintain a stock of all spare parts to ensure repairs can be carried out immediately.
- To build a list of local contacts for services that cannot be performed by in house staff.
- Control contractors ensuring permit to work and lock off is adhered too.
- Support Projects as and when required.
- To be part of the on-call team out of hours when there is a breakdown that the Process Techs cannot rectify.
- To carry out any additional duties that may be required.
Systems and CI Management
- Update KPI reports, preventative/predictive maintenance plans for the site.
- To use effective problem-solving tools when problem solving process problems/faults as per training program.
- Control all stock on IFS with specific locations, regular stock takes, and all parts used for a work order are booked out of the system.
- To input data regarding all work carried out onto IFS.
- Create and maintain procedures for all engineering tasks in the factory and link to the asset register on IFS EON. These can be used as training aids for operators.
- Implement and maintain 5S workplace organization in the engineering stores and work areas. To be regularly audited for suitability.
- To work to the ‘Clean-As-You-Go’ policy, ensuring all areas are cleared at the end of the shift and that tools are returned to their correct storage place.
- Continually improve business processes (CI) to ensure optimum effectiveness and customer satisfaction.
- Understand the requirements of audits and ensure the laboratory and stores are prepared in terms of hygiene and organization.
- To ensure all inspection issues are dealt with and resolved in a timely manner.
Health and Safety
- To raise a permit to work or a hazard awareness form before commencing work to ensure all hazards that may cause a risk to health and safety are identified and reduced/eliminated.
- To lock off any process before commencing any invasive work that may create a H&S hazard.
- To wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as per requirements of area and task.
- Embed a culture of ‘see it, sort it, report it’ where H&S issues are actioned immediately and H&S incidents reported on IFS.
- Ensure personal compliance with all company requirements.
- To ensure risk assessments are carried out on all new tasks in collaboration with the Site Safety Representative.
Qualifications and Skills
- Trade Qualification
- The role is a suitable for a person with good IT skills.
- At least 3 years’ experience in Process Maintenance Engineering
