Jennifer Griffiths Recruitment are looking for a Despatch/Materials Assistant for a Manufacturing Client in the Bridgend area.
A vacancy has arisen for a Despatch/Materials Assistant, a key member of the Purchasing Team, responsible and accountable for the despatch of goods and inventory handling.
Principal Accountabilities
* Carry out despatching activities against targets. Pick, prepare and pack in accordance with internal procedures (works orders, SOPs).
* Organise collection of despatched goods using carrier website/booking systems and completing the relevant documentation.
* Organise and liaise with packing contractors to prepare and pack machine systems (finished goods), and ensure appropriate close down operations to maintain inventory, financial and control systems.
* Maintain/review packing materials and uphold best practice packing, picking methods in the despatch role.
* Responsible for capturing on-time-in-full metrics on all despatched products as part of key targets and continuous improvement activity.
* To provide cover as required for inventory/goods inwards:-
– Receiving goods including checking of deliveries, movement of inventory, kitting to relevant teams and registering transactions using ERP system.
– Manage and maintain pre-kitting of material to internal customers.
– Ensure general housekeeping activities in the goods inwards and materials areas.
* Ensure general housekeeping activities in work areas.
* Undertake any other projects and duties as requested which are within the competence of the job holder.
Job Specific Skills/Personal Qualities
* Experience of despatch/shipping of products to customers/agents in the global marketplace.
* Experience of warehousing/inventory management within a physical and ERP environment.
* Holder of a current forklift licence desirable or the willingness to be trained.
* Accuracy and a high level of attention to detail with proven ability to multi-task, organise and plan time to meet daily/weekly deadlines.
* A high degree of computer literacy is required. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel applications.
* This is a semi-manual role that can involve lifting and carrying as required.
The hours of work are 37 hours a week. Monday to Thursday 8.30am to 5pm/Friday 8.30am to 1.30pm.
This role requires organisational skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to supporting warehouse operations. Candidates should be physically fit, safety-conscious, and eager to contribute to a well-functioning logistics team.
