Planning and Logistics Manager

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced planning and logistics professional to lead the planning and logistics function, driving operational performance, customer service and continuous improvement within a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Translate customer demand and business priorities into clear planning schedules and objectives.
  • Support high-performing teams through coaching, development and regular feedback.
  • Coordinate materials, capacity and information to achieve on-time, cost-effective delivery.
  • Drive continuous improvement across planning, procurement, scheduling and warehousing.
  • Balance customer requirements with business priorities, capacity and available resources.
  • Build strong relationships across Operations, Sales, Procurement and Quality.
  • Promote a positive team culture focused on collaboration, accountability and problem-solving.
  • Manage inventory, supplier performance, risk and compliance to maintain effective operations.

Essential Experience:

  • Experience leading planning, scheduling or logistics teams within a manufacturing, engineering or production environment.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach and develop teams to improve performance.
  • Experience managing planning and logistics performance through KPIs and data.
  • Strong understanding of production scheduling, material planning, inventory and logistics processes.
  • Ability to make informed decisions, balancing customer requirements, capacity, cost and inventory.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence across teams, suppliers and customers.
  • Proactive approach to continuous improvement and problem solving.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Experience within a highly regulated manufacturing environment
  • Experience using or implementing ERP/MRP planning systems.
  • Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, S&OP or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • CPIM, CILT or equivalent planning and logistics qualification.
  • Management or leadership qualification.

Salary: £55,000 to £65,000 per annum

Hours: Monday to Friday, Days
