General Machinist

Jennifer Griffiths Recruitment are proud to be exclusively representing Engineered Performance Coatings (EPC) as they continue to grow their team.

We are looking for an experienced General Machinist to join their Cardiff site.

The role will involve using both manual and CNC machinery to produce and finish components, as well as making and maintaining the jigs, fixtures and masking used within the coatings process.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Set and Operate manual lathes, mills and grinders, as well as CNC machinery.
  • Produce components accurately from engineering drawings and specifications
  • Produce and maintain jigs, fixtures and masking for the coatings process.
  • Machine components before and after they have been coated
  • Carry out quality checks using equipment such as micrometers, verniers and gauges.
  • Carry out basic machine checks and keeping your work area clean and tidy.
  • Report any quality or production issues
  • Follow SOP’s, work instructions and process specifications
  • Escalating any issues with the product
  • Helping to identify ways to improve efficiency and reduce waste or rework.
  • Work closely with the Engineering, Production, Quality and Pre-Production teams.
  • Follow all health and safety and PPE requirements.

Experience:

Ideally you will have:

  • Experience operating manual and/or CNC machine tools (lathes, mills, grinders) within a manufacturing or precision engineering environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances and specifications accurately.
  • Experience machining a variety of metals and materials
  • Experience of setting or programming CNC machinery, or a willingness to learn.
  • Competent using precision measuring equipment (micro meters, verniers, gauges) and recording quality data accurately.
  • Experience producing or maintaining tooling, jigs, fixtures or masking
  • Problem-solving skills, able to identify and resolve minor machining or process issues.
  • A recognised machining qualification (e.g. NVQ or apprenticeship in Machining/Engineering) is desirable but not essential.

Hours of Work: Days (Monday to Friday)

Salary: £29,000 to £31,000 per annum
