Jennifer Griffiths Recruitment are seeking to appoint a Health and Safety Officer.
This is initially a 3-month temporary contract. This role is focused on maintaining and improving our health and safety systems, policies and procedures rather than managing day-to-day site activities. You’ll work closely with managers across the business to ensure we remain compliant, documentation is up to date, and safe working practices are supported.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, review and maintain Health & Safety policies, procedures and associated documentation.
- Create and update risk assessments and Safe Systems of Work (SSoW).
- Develop and review health and safety procedures, including areas such as:
- Working at Height
- Confined Spaces
- HAVS
- COSHH
- Manual Handling
- PUWER
- DSE
- Ensure policies and procedures remain compliant with current legislation.
- Maintain accurate health and safety records, audits and documentation.
- Support managers with health and safety advice and guidance.
- Assist with incident investigations and identify corrective actions.
- Carry out audits and help investigate incidents where required.
- Liaise with external auditors, inspectors and regulatory bodies when required.
- Promote a positive health and safety culture across the business.
Essential:
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent).
- 2–5 years’ experience in a Health & Safety role.
- Experience producing risk assessments and Safe Systems of Work.
- Good knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Positive, can-do attitude.
- Experience in an engineering, manufacturing or industrial environment.
Salary: £38,000 – £40,000 per annum
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
