Part-Time Carpentry and Joinery Technician/Assistant

Carpentry Neath Part Time £13.45 per hour Expires: 27 September 2026

We are seeking a carpentry and joinery technician/assistant to provide support to our clients Carpentry & Joinery department. This is a temporary ongoing role that involves assisting with practical teaching environments, maintaining equipment, and supporting learners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain an appropriate practical working environment
  • Prepare materials, tools, and equipment for use
  • Check, maintain, and where possible repair equipment
  • Keep the workshop clean, safe, and organized
  • Maintain stock levels and accurate inventories of tools, equipment, and materials
  • Assist in supervising learners within the workshop
  • Organize the issue and return of tools, equipment, and materials
  • Participate in risk assessments of practical activities

Requirements:

  • Relevant technical experience in Carpentry & Joinery
  • IT literate
  • Ability to operate and maintain machinery and equipment
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting safely
  • Familiarity with construction painting techniques is a plus.
  • Level 2 qualification in a relevant discipline
  • English and Maths (GCSE or equivalent)

Compliance Requirements:

  • Must undergo an enhanced DBS check
  • Register with the EWC

Working Hours: 18.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

Rate of pay: £13.45 per hour

Location: This role is based between Neath and Pontardawe
