Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Stores Person to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing stock levels, handling materials, and ensuring the smooth operation of warehouse activities. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with warehouse experience, mechanical knowledge, and a proactive approach to materials handling. The Stores Person will play a vital role in maintaining efficient stock management and supporting logistics operations within our organisation.
Responsibilities
- Operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment safely and efficiently to load, unload, and move goods. Training is provided.
- Manage stock levels using warehouse management systems ensuring accurate recording of all transactions.
- Handle materials with care, including picking, packing, and preparing items for shipping or storage.
- Assist with shipping and receiving activities, ensuring all items are correctly documented and stored.
- Perform heavy lifting tasks as required, adhering to health and safety guidelines at all times.
- Stock shelves and organise storage areas to optimise space utilisation and accessibility.
- Conduct regular inventory checks and reconcile stock discrepancies promptly.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely processing of orders and deliveries.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment in accordance with company policies.
Experience
- Proven experience in warehouse management or stock control roles is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with forklift operation and certification is preferred but not essential, as full training will be provided.
- Experience using warehouse management systems is advantageous.
- Knowledge of materials handling techniques, including heavy lifting and safe manual handling practices.
- Construction or industrial experience can be beneficial for understanding mechanical aspects of the role.
- Previous experience in picking & packing, shipping & receiving tasks within a busy warehouse environment is preferred.
