Essential Skills Qualifications

Essential Skills Wales qualifications are intended to support learners to improve their numeracy, literacy digital and employability skills.

This qualification aims to build essential mathematical skills that are applicable in daily life, work, and further education. It is particularly beneficial for learners who have not yet achieved a GCSE or Functional Skills qualification in mathematics. This qualification will allow learners to understand numerical data, carry out calculations and interpret and present results and findings.

The qualification is designed to demonstrate and improve the ability to communicate effectively in various contexts. This includes developing skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. This qualification is beneficial for those learners who have not gained a GCSE in English.

This qualification is designed to improve digital skills that will benefit individuals in both their personal and professional practices. A variety of digital skills are covered throughout the course including digital collaboration, digital productivity and digital creativity. This is a useful qualification for those individuals who have not yet achieved a GCSE in ICT.
